We recommend that you have a professional cleaning at least twice a year. In some cases where oral hygiene is a problem we may suggest that you clean your teeth cleaned on a 3-4 month interval. A fluoride treatment is given during the cleaning visit to help with the prevention of tooth decay. The fluoride is given in the form of a rinse or painted directly onto the teeth.
In cases where the patient is present with a lot of decay we may also suggest using a daily prescribed fluoridated toothpaste that has a more concentrated dose of fluoride than your regular toothpaste
Periodontal Disease
Recent research suggests there may be a link between periodontal (gum) disease and other health problems. Prevention of periodontal disease, then, is an important step in maintaining overall health. Periodontal disease affects three out of four adults at some time in their lives. It doesn’t necessarily hurt and you may not even be aware that you have it until an advanced stage. Regular dental visits are essential for detecting periodontal disease at an early stage, when it can often be reversed, before the gums and the supporting bone are irreversibly damaged -ADA
